Parenting Support & Education

“We help families build skills in child development and parenting, strengthen support networks and encourage a sense of belonging.”

All of our free Family Resource programs are designed to support parents in their role as a parent, to develop skills and to gain information about community resources for parents, children and families. Our programs can also provide opportunities for parents and children to meet others in a safe and welcoming environment. Our program goals are: to promote secure parent-child attachment, healthy child development and school readiness, confident and positive parenting, family connections to community resources, and positive social support networks.

Our programs include registered groups for both parents and babes/tots, drop in parent and child interactive programs, and parenting groups with child care support.

In addition, individual parenting support is available through appointments or 1:1 sessions.

Participants find out about our programs through our brochures, flyers, web page or calendar, and hear about us from friends and family; other times our programs are recommended by a health practitioner, public health nurse, community worker or an MCFD social worker. Our staff work hard to make participants feel welcomed and supported; if we are unable to provide a parent/family with the kind of support they are looking for, we will try and connect the parent with another suitable community resource. Call us at 250-385-2635 Ext 207 for further information.

All the programs:
- Help participants with bus tickets to get to ENHS and home again if needed;
- Give participants access to our clothing cupboard and emergency food supplies;
- Provide a light meal and/or healthy snack;
- Provide information and referral to other services.

Some of our programs offer food vouchers and additional free resources.

The programs can include the following; please check our Monthly Calendar for program times and dates.
