Training for Our Volunteer Counsellors
At the Esquimalt Community Counselling Centre, we provide extensive counsellor training (a minimum of 250 horus) to enable our volunteer counsellors to offer the much needed counselling services our centre provides to people in our community. Our training program is not a stand-along course, but is designed to prepare volunteers to offer counselling services at our agency. This truly is an extensive volunteer commitment that typically takes people several years to complete. Once counsellors have successfully graduated from our training program, we ask them to make a commitment to provide 200 hours of counselling so that we can offer accessible, quality counselling services to our community. Counselling is indeedd rewarding and challenging work that makes a difference to the clients we serve!
When is the Next Counsellor Training Session?
We are not proceeding with a September Counsellor Training Program. We will update this section, when we have completed our plans for the next training session. Please check back here in September 2011 for an update.
Counsellor Training Facilitation Team
Our training program is facilitated by Carol Hathaway, M Ed. In addition, two or three graduates (and experienced counsellors) at our centre will be selcted to make up the facilitaiton team.
